🎬 FilmReview The League dives into the story of Moses Fleetwood Walker, the very first Black baseball player in Major League Baseball, as well as eras of integration and segregation in baseball. | ✍️ Isi Frank Ativie

captures the pure excitement that these fans had as they attended games; Negro League teams inspired other Black people to pursue their dreams and goals, despite living in a thoroughly segregated nation. The documentary shows the harsh realities of racism that Black players endured while in their careers, but it also reveals how the Negro National League provided employment for Black athletes and gave them a sense of somebodiness.

Grammy-winning musician Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and actress Nina Dobrev, part of the team of executive producers, did a fabulous job of including archival photos and videos from those years. Additionally, the animated graphics of the players demonstrating their colorful playing styles are superb. The documentary includes well-known historian and culture critic Gerald Early, as well as narration from Negro Leagues umpire Bob Motley.
