Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee to kick off mayoral bid with rooftop rally at Post Houston Friday night
Jackson Lee, perhaps the most recognizable member of Houston's congressional delegation, has been in the House of Representatives since 1995, serving the district once represented by Reps. Mickey Leland and Barbara Jordan, the first Black woman elected to Congress from the South.
The congresswoman serves on the powerful budget and judiciary committees, and is chief deputy whip for House Democrats.
