Community members come together to cheer for local cancer survivors (or participate as a survivor) in a 24-hour event at Lower Dauphin high school.
The American Cancer Society has led this movement for over 35 years to honor survivors, remember loved ones, and helping to raise money for cancer research and awareness.
Jim Anderson, Event Chair of Relay For Life Hershey-Harrisburg, said that 120 participants have signed up for this year’s event which are split up into 23 teams. “Each year we try to come up with something fun to figure out how we can stop this awful disease of cancer and giving cancer the boot just fits really well with this heat that we’re having out here,” he said.
