The 12th annual March for the Fallen includes a 28-mile ruck march, a 14-mile ruck march, a 5K run/march and a 28-mile hand cycle.
at Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, during Gold Star Mother’s Day weekend.It includes multiple options for participation.The 28-mile heavy ruck march and 14-mile ruck march start at 7 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Participants must carry a 35-pound ruck sack or pack.
The 28-mile light ruck march and 14-mile light ruck also start at 7 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. There is no weight requirement for the ruck or pack.The 5K virtual walk/run and 28-mile virtual ruck march fees are $30 through Sept. 23. The event is held during the weekend of Gold Star Mother’s Day, the national guard said in a news release, “to honor the memory of those who have fallen in defense of our nation.”
The USO said, “March for the Fallen is an annual event to honor the Pennsylvania National Guardsmen who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation. A portion of the proceeds raised through registration will be donated to the USO, which the organization will use to further its mission of strengthening America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.”
