Adolis García turns up aggressiveness, wins second AL Player of the Week award of career
, hit four homers runs, two doubles, drove in 14 runs and scored eight. His slash line for the week: 400/.458/.1.100/1.558 for 20 at-bats. His 14 RBIs led all MLB players on the week.
It’s the second time García, 30, has won the award. He also won it for the same week two years ago. He becomes the first Ranger over the last five seasons to win multiple Player of the Week awards. What is perhaps more significant is that his performance last week follows the same trend of a year ago in which he showed signs of being a more disciplined hitter. His strikeout rate fell and his walk rate improved in 2022 coming off 2021. Through the first three weeks of this season, he’s shown a further decrease in strikeout percentage and a higher walk rate than he did for 2022.
