In it, lead character Ben didn’t make it home, which was hinted at in the Quantum Leap season 1 finale. Ben instead finds himself in the body of a man named Perez. He's on a plane in 1978, flying somewhere over Russia.
Perez’s team — who are played by Roxburgh, Arnaud, Abrams, and Byrne — are members of the Air Force. They're tasked "with a secret mission to transport a mystery crate to New Delhi", per TVLine. But the plane is shot down by missiles before they can arrive at their location. But the giant crate looks to be very important, since, Roxburgh’s character puts her life at risk to keep it secure before the plane explodes. Ben's life is at risk, as well, in this opening scene.
