Australian carrier Qantas is planning a second route from Australia to North Texas starting in December.Australian air carrier Qantas announced new flights from DFW International Airport to Melbourne Saturday night, starting the route at the end of this year.
Qantas, which resumed flights from DFW Airport to Sydney in February after a 22-month hiatus, will start a new route to North Texas from Australia’s second-largest city, Melbourne, on Dec. 2, the airport said Saturday., the airport said. It will do so on a Boeing 787 operating four times weekly. “DFW Airport is pleased to welcome Qantas nonstop service to Melbourne,” said DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue in a statement. “Both regions are experiencing rapid growth, and this addition will provide new opportunities for international business ties, tourism and economic development.”
Neither Qantas nor any other airline has ever flown regular service from DFW International Airport to Melbourne, the capital of the country’s state of Victoria. Qantas has been flying from DFW to Sydney since 2014 and before that flew to DFW from Brisbane, Australia, going back to 2011.It’s one of several new international routes DFW has welcomed in recent months,
