Chloe Abbott got the attention of Chance the Rapper in her Blind Audition.
, and within 19 seconds, Chance the Rapper turned his chair around, signaling he wanted Abbott on his team.
The 400-meter runner majored in theater with a minor in vocal performance at the University of Kentucky, where she was an All-American sprinter.Abbott, 24, was a four-time First Team All-American, Big Ten champion in the 4x400 , and the 2019 NCAA runner-up in the 400 meters. “I was dancing in the morning and at nights, with practice in the middle. It was actually such a fulfilling time for me,”Dressed in a teal blazer, top, and shorts, with sparkling silver boots, Abbott wowed the coaches, who include Chance the Rapper, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and Niall Horan. After her performance, Abbott and the coaches bantered back and forth about Abbott’s professional running status.“That makes sense,” Chance said after Abbott explained she was training for the Olympics.
Shelton joked that he has been training for the U.S. curling team, which launched a peculiar sidebar in which Carson Daly rolled out a lie detector machine. On the sidelines was Abbott’s mother along with her coach, Bobby Kersee. Both danced for the entirety of her performance.
