HALIFAX — A German man who was among the first customers to successfully descend to the Titanic wreck aboard a submersible destroyed in an implosion one week…

“I think it would be very good if they do this because I think there were a lot of issues … and it shouldn’t happen again,” said Loibl.

When asked what needs to change as a result of any investigation, Loibl said at the very least vessels like Titan need to be certified. “It’s not comfortable, it’s only a bottom where you have to sit and you can only stay on your knees, you cannot stand,” he said. “There are small windows where it’s possible for only one or two people to look out and you are sitting very near to each other, legs are over legs. You really have no space inside the sub.”

“You really hear nothing. It’s quiet … if you are not speaking to each other it’s absolutely quiet,” he said.“When we reached the bottom I was happy and after 20 minutes when I saw the Titanic I was really happy. My mood was changing because it was a dream come true.”
