There won't be any quarterback controversy for Texas this offseason. It's Quinn Ewers' job, and the Longhorns believe he can lead them to a long-awaited Big 12 title.
There will be no prolonged quarterback competition for Texas this offseason.
The Big 12 is there for the taking, and Sarkisian could really use some on-field momentum as Texas prepares to enter the SEC in 2024. To that end, Ewers appears determined to snap this program’s 14-year conference title drought, having rededicated himself after a volatile string of performances down the stretch last season.
The sternoclavicular injury Ewers suffered in Week 2 halted what looked like a rapid ascent, but his return was marred by accuracy issues and inconsistency. Ewers, who turned 20 in March, vowed to patch those holes this offseason, and so far appears to have done just that. "Obviously, something had to change if I wanted to end up where I want to be in the future," Ewers said."I'm starting right here. I'm eating a lot better. I'm doing all the small things a lot harder, and I'm excited."
