A woman who shot an Uber driver in Texas said she believed she was being kidnapped and taken to Mexico, according to authorities.
Officers arrested 48-year-old Phoebe Copas, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky.Copas told police she shot the driver because she thought she was being taken to Mexico, rather than the requested destination.
Officers said Copas also dropped everything she was holding in her hands on the ground, including a brown and silver handgun.Officers also saw witnesses look into the vehicle. Officers said they saw a man bleeding profusely with a wound to his head. Copas then grabbed the gun and shot the driver, which caused a crash on the highway, the document stated.
