Department of Justice will investigate the Thursday night shooting
The California Department of Justice is investigating a fatal police shooting that occurred in Newark after police revealed Saturday that the suspects involved had a non-lethal air pistol.and occurred as officers from Newark and Fremont say they were trying to apprehend a carjacking suspect. In the initial reports of the shooting, police didn’t say whether the suspects were armed or not.
Newark Police said the carjacking suspect who was killed in an officer-involved shooting had an airgun, which shoots nonlethal plastic pellets but looks like a real firearm.
