Police: Man thrown from car's hood after thief crashes into San Diego-Coronado Bridge toll plaza [Breaking]
A 33-year-old man trying to thwart a car theft was thrown from the hood of his car and seriously injured when the alleged thief crashed into the San Diego-Coronado Bridge toll plaza Sunday morning, police said.The incident was reported about 5:20 a.m. when a witness called police and said a sedan was headed down Orange Avenue, with a man on the hood. The man was yelling.A short time later, the car crashed into the bridge toll plaza.
Officers found the man lying in a traffic lane. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, police said.The driver, an 18-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of charges including vehicle theft, hit and run and attempted murder, police said.
