Maurice Howard, 60, was shot and killed Aug. 21 in Oakland, and allegedly exchanged gunfire with his killer.

OAKLAND — Authorities have identified a Newark man who was killed during a shootout with another man late last month.

Maurice Howard, 60, was shot and killed around 5 p.m. Aug. 21, on the 4300 block of Jensen Street in Oakland, authorities said. Thus far, no arrests have been made. Investigators believe that Howard and his killer knew each other, and that the shooting was preceded by some sort of argument or confrontation.
