Shala Zamora, 9, was killed in a car crash in central Phoenix on Tuesday morning. A man and two other children were injured, but are expected to live.

Phoenix police identified the child who was killed in a central Phoenix car crash on Tuesday.On Tuesday around 9:05 a.m., Phoenix police officers responded to a severe vehicle collision near Seventh Street and Thomas Road, officials said.

When officers arrived on scene, they found two vehicles that were involved, according to a statement from Phoenix police spokesperson Sgt. Phil Krynsky. Officers learned from witness statements that one of the vehicles was driving eastbound when it swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle and collided with another heading westbound.

The westbound vehicle contained a man and two child passengers who were taken to a hospital. One of the children was pronounced dead from their injuries, police said.The eastbound vehicle's driver sustained no serious injuries, and a child passenger was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, authorities said.

Police said that no arrests have been made, but they suspect that speed and impairment could be possible factors in the crash. The investigation was ongoing.
