Daily News | Philly City Council approved a trio of bills aimed at protecting abortion rights
seeking abortion care in Philadelphia, including making it harder for reproductive health care providers and patients to face legal trouble related to anti-abortion laws in other states.
The three bills were authored by progressive Council members Kendra Brooks and Jamie Gauthier, and former member Helen Gym, who resigned last month to run in next year’s moral election. The bill establishing nondiscrimination protections for people seeking abortion care passed unanimously Thursday. The other two were approved in 15-1 votes, with Republican David Oh voting no.
