Phillies fans from near and far are hard to miss this World Series

Houston Astros fan Eddie Ramos offers Philadelphia Phillies fans Luke Sobo, of Dallas, a bet during Game 1 of World Series 2022 Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Ramos would give Sobo the Nolan Ryan jersey he just bought today if the Astros win tonight. Sobo would give Ramos his cowboy hat if the Phillies takes the game tonight. Were it any other team the Astros were playing in the World Series, Roger"Bo" Quiroga knows who he would be cheering for.

"You have to root for them when you know what the Phillies are like," Quiroga said."They've got grit." "Astros fans were obviously frustrated but they were never ignorant or mean," said Nancy Ramos, an administrative assistant from Philadelphia, who came to both Games 1 and 2 with five family members."I was surprised. If that was us, it would not be the same."

She blamed national media for the negative perception of Philadelphia fans, something certain Astros fans might commiserate with. The Houston Eagles Nest, a fan club dedicated to Philly's football team, was hosting World Series watch parties at Little Woodrow's on Shepherd. The fan club was receiving hundreds of calls this week from people trying to find a place to watch the games among their fandom, said club founder Craig Conner, who established the Eagles Nest in 2003.
