Sky News Queensland Editor Peter Gleeson says Defence Minister Peter Dutton is one of the “best retail politicians” he has ever seen, calling him a “superstar”.
Mr Dutton faced off against Labor’s Defence spokesman Brendan O’Connor at the National Press Gallery on Thursday.
“He could easily be the alternative prime minister and he understands Australians take this threat from China very seriously,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray. “They see what‘s going on in the Solomon Islands, they don’t like it, they understand why Dutton is so strong on that particular part of the world.”
