Pearland Coffee Roasters, a hot spot for Pearland residents, will remain open after the business announced that it has a new owner.A new owner will keep Pearland Coffee Roasters open, the business announced Sundaytwo days after reporting that the popular spot would close at the end of July.
The previous owner, Jeff Barnett, signed over ownership of the coffee shop, 4106 Broadway, to Albert Rogers, who will take over the business on July 1., said Barnett. "Whenever I told the community that we were going to be shutting down, I was ran over with with offers," Barnett said."By Sunday, having my phone just nonstop one call after another talking to people, I formulated the deal with Albert. I went and broke about 12 hearts telling people I decided to do business with someone else.
"I had a three-year fight with the city to build the second location, and it culminated with one more requirement, one more delay, one more chunk of money before I could break ground on the second location," said Barnett.
Barnett said he received positive feedback from the city this weekend about his efforts to open a second location and that he is contemplating still building that facility to lease to Rogers.
