The Clippers and Knicks have had conversations about a potential trade for wing Paul George, according to people with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, talks that were initiated by New York.
Any suitor would need to face the question the Clippers have: how much a team is willing to commit long term to George, 33, one of the league’s most talented two-way wings who has played an average of 47 games his last three seasons and is coming off of a knee strain in March that knocked him out of the playoffs. He is eligible for a contract extension for a maximum of four years and around $220 million.
