One person was killed and four others seriously injured in a crash Tuesday night when a driver attempted to pass another vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 287 in Somerset County, authorities said. The crash took place at about 7:30 p.m. near milepost 18.4 in Bridgewater after the driver of a southbound vehicle maneuvered his vehicle off the left side of the highway to try to improperly pass another vehicle, according toWhen the vehicle reentered the road, it struck the front of the second car, slid across the road and veered off the interstate to the right.
