About 5 p.m., the National Weather Service in Fort Worth issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of southern Collin County and northern Rockwall County. The main threats are heavy wind and hail, and the warning is in effect until 5:45 p.m.
Overnight, the weather service said, a complex of storms will move southeast through portions of North Texas, with the potential of some becoming severe. Damaging winds are the main threat, the weather service said.
The storms come as much of the region is under a heat advisory. According to the weather service, heat indices, which factor in air temperature and relative humidity, will peak around 105 to 108 degrees.Since Sunday, most of North Texas has been experiencing severe heat.
According to KXAS-TV , high temperatures will be in the upper 90s Saturday, followed by several days of triple-digit heat Sunday into next week.: Partly cloudy with a 30% chance of isolated storms. Low: 79.Slight chance of thunderstorms. Otherwise, mostly sunny, hotter and humid. Low: 79. High: 98.
