Edward Hariston, 41, is charged with attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, battery on a law-enforcement officer and disorderly conduct, according to Orange County, Fla., jail records.

the incident occurred Tuesday at a ticket counter for Spirit Airlines. An affidavit says a group of passengers were yelling at Spirit workers and that some had gone behind the counter, Fox 35 reports.

When an officer tried to stop Hariston by grabbing his arm, Hariston resisted and the two men ended up in a physical confrontation, reports say. Hariston is accused of putting his arm around the officer’s neck in a chokehold. A Spirit customer who was at the airport tells Fox 35 that about 200 people were in line when the incident occurred and that customers and employees were getting upset.
