Laurie Montgomery is accused of stealing funds from the Linwood Parent-Teacher Association and Street Hockey Association.
A woman in South Jersey has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $150,000 while acting as treasurer of her town’s parent-teacher organization and street hockey association, Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds said.
An investigation began in August 2021 after suspicions arose that she was misappropriating funds from the Linwood Parent-Teacher Association, officials said. Detectives alleged Montgomery withdrew money from an account dedicated to funding the organization’s events and produced a false balance sheet to show to members of the board, officials said.
