Visit to Padres Hall of Fame at Petco Park before Game 1 of NLCS affords opportunity to see how 2022 fits in with franchise's 1984 and 1998 seasons
Though they’d been to the ballpark countless times before, this was the first visit to the Hall of Fame for Luis Fernandez and 11-year-old son Isaac.Father wanted to show son a glimpse of Padres postseason history from 1984 and 1998, so the boy could gain some understanding of what he was witnessing in 2022.
“The electricity in the stands is unreal,” Luis said. “I’ve never been a part of anything like that. Even going home and watching it on ‘SportsCenter,’ it starts it all over again.The Padres Hall of Fame takes visitors along a wall that traces the franchise back to its minor league roots, beginning in 1936 in the Pacific Coast League, through last season, when Joe Musgrove pitched the club’s first no-hitter.
Kris Gregorian and Christian Hirsch lined up in front of the Padres Team Store to get some gear before Game 1.There were nearly 100 people waiting to get into the Padres Team Store as game time approached.After all, there were 83 other chances this season to get gear. Not to mention non-game days.He was bringing friend Christian Hirsch, visiting from Cincinnati, to his first Padres game.
The back story is that Poway’s Aaron Jaffe enjoys combining two of his favorite things — food and baseball.
