A 1-month-old baby was inside the couple's vehicle during the robberies.
In both robberies, authorities reported that Herren would enter the store first and make a small purchase. Mazza would then come into the store wearing a bandanna and carrying a firearm, and would demand money from the register.
During the first robbery, he threatened to kill the clerk, according to reports. He was given approximately $1,975.52 at the tobacco store.A short time after the Dollar General robbery, State Police stopped the suspected vehicle along Sky Top Mountain Road in Centre County and took the couple into custody.
What might have been unexpected was that police reported that a 1-month-old baby was also inside the vehicle at the time of the robberies. Authorities also seized over $5,000 in stolen cash, a handgun, 9mm bullets, two bandannas and a pair of black gloves. There were also receipts from the stores they robbed, according to reports.
The couple is currently being held at the Blair County Prison. Both are facing a litany of charges including robbery, conspiracy, theft, making terroristic threats and child endangerment. While Mazza’s bail was denied, Herren’s bail has been set at $50,000 for each set of charges.
