A team of researchers discovered the jaws of an ancient 'spiny shark' in various sites through Pennsylvania.
have discovered the bones of creatures from millions of years ago.how researchers from Lycoming College unearthed the fossils of “spiny sharks” from various sites throughout the state in Lycoming, Tioga, and Bradford counties. Researchers also analyzed a jaw that was discovered previously in 1918 near Factoryville in Wyoming County.
These jaws in particular are part of a species called the ischnacanthid acanthodians, predators that boasted these striking bony jaws topped with fang-like teeth used to capture their unfortunate prey. . “Additionally, we identified two of the ischnacanthid jaw specimens as belong to the genus Persacanthus which had not been previously collected from rocks as.
