The incident occurred on Ridge Road in Springfield Township, roughly 20 miles west of Erie, around 12:40 a.m. on Thursday. The 41-year-old victim was waiting for a ride by the side of the road after hitting a deer with his motorcycle,A van that had swerved to avoid the disabled motorcycle then struck the victim, who was “dragged for some distance,” Cook told the Times-News; the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
