A 22-year-old recent Alabama A&M graduate and university cheerleader was remembered as a “beautiful soul” after she was shot and killed Friday, allegedly at the hands of her 19-year-old ex-boyfriend.
Chi McDade, an A&M cheerleader who graduated from the university in May and went to high school in Birmingham, was a victim of domestic violence, authorities said. “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, start having more conversations with your children about Domestic Violence,” wrote Alabama A&M cheerleading coach Resheba McGowan on Facebook. “Chi McDade was a 22 year old Alabama A&M recent Graduate and was a victim of a violent crime. Her smile, her cool spirit, her kind heart, her intelligence ... will all be missed here on earth.”
McDade’s ex-boyfriend, 19-year-old Antonio Terrell Burks, allegedly got into an argument with her Friday afternoon in Madison, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.He was arrested shortly after sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene.“To wake up and see you all over my news feed don’t even feel right I literally just was talking to you two days ago … you were so sweet and genuine,” they wrote. “Definitely a beautiful soul inside and out.
