OSHA teams with Dallas’ Mexican Consulate to spread information on workers’ rights

Monge said the consulate will work with OSHA starting next week to use social media platforms like Facebook, in-person workshops and training programs to spread information to workers and employers. Facebook sessions and workshops will include training on basic information under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. It will cover material like filing a complaint if an employee believes their health may be at risk.

“Working with the Mexican Consulate in Dallas will help us reach out to many workers who we might not otherwise have access to,” Minor said. “By breaking down the language barrier, we can help these workers understand the rights to be protected from needless harm.”“This is definitely going to work both ways.

“OSHA’s alliance with the Mexican Consulate in Dallas will prevent many Spanish-speaking people working in North Texas from needless injuries or worse,” Singh said. “Every U.S. worker, regardless of their immigration status, has the right to a safe workplace and to receive information in their own language.”
