Opinion: Waterfront golf range planned near airport by Topgolf draws opposition [Opinion]
It’s dismaying that the Port c ommissioners are focused on adding new commercial projects to the waterfront. Some years ago, a consultant told the Port District: San Diego’s tidelands are woefully short on parks and open space. The consultant stated that our tidelands have only “apology parks”.
Now, a port commissioner thinks that a golf facility on Harbor Island can create “a place where people want to go.” My guess is that the 3.3 million people in our region, many living in communities without adequate parks, would be happy to visit a regional park on breezy, scenic San Diego Bay.
