However, that raises the question of how this region will ever reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Electric vehicles? Maybe. Although sales of gas-powered cars will end in 2035, there will still be a fair number of gas-powered cars on the road. San Diegans oppose any measure that interferes with driving and parking — bike lanes, public transportation, new housing without parking and a road usage charge. Yet they/we complain about traffic congestion.San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria states, “I cannot support the concept of charging people to drive when we don’t have viable transit or other alternatives to offer those who are already struggling.” He neglects to propose a way of financing public transit.
