A Baptist preacher in Dallas believes governments are the strongmen to protect their citizens from evildoers.
Most religious people base their faith on an accurate interpretation of an authoritative text. Add to that the constant and consistent effort to be honest, open and scholarly in their study.
The Rev. Robert Jeffress, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, explains in May of 2016 : “Look, the godly principle here is, that, the governments have one responsibility and that is Romans 13, says to avenge evil-doers. He doesn’t give you and me those responsibilities and rights individually. So there is a distinction between what the Christian individual’s is and what the government’s is.
He further explains, “Government is a strongman to protect its citizens from evildoers,” and he adds, “I don’t care about the candidate’s tone or vocabulary, I want the meanest, toughest son of a you-know-what I can find, and I believe that’s biblical.” This is a construct, I believe, to justify the presidency of Donald J. Trump.
