In his second radio show of the year, Ohio State men's basketball coach Chris Holtmann talked Isaac Likekele, Bruce Thornton, Tanner Holden and more.

) by Tanner Holden, will now head to New York City to play North Carolina in the CBS Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden. At 7-2 overall, Ohio State climbed to No. 23 in the Associated Press poll after sitting at No. 25 for the last two weeks.

“Wednesday morning Ice told us about some significant things that happened back home,” Holtmann said. “We knew he was going to have to return to a funeral. We had to flip the script in terms of what we were running and how we were going to play on both ends, because he was going to match up with some of their big guards. We had to really change some matchups in how we were going to attack.

That also meant asking starting point guard Bruce Thornton to log 38:30 against Rutgers. It helped win the game but won’t be the plan going forward.“I’d have played him 48 if I could,” Holtmann said. “We knew it was going to be a full night for him. They did a great job pressuring him and trying to wear him down. That’s not tenable.

Ohio State was off Saturday and will be off Tuesday as the university goes through finals. The layoff in between games is a concern for Holtmann, and he said they plan to scrimmage at some point to try and stay sharp. North Carolina plays Monday night.Third-year center Zed Key scored a career-high 22 points in the win against the Scarlet Knights and pulled down a career-high-tying 14 rebounds.
