Ohio State’s history on Oct. 8 includes Keith Byars going for 100 by both ground and air, Joel Payton scoring four times against Purdue and Joe Bauserman’s struggles at Nebraska.
Keith Byars did it all against Purdue in 1983
Bruce was a man of his word as Byars finished the day with 23 carries and four receptions for 27 total touches. The powerful running back with quick feet and soft hands torched Purdue for 255 total yards and two touchdowns. His 135 rushing yards were a career-high at the time and his 120 receiving yards stood as a single-game best for Byars.“One hundred yards from both sides makes me pretty happy,” Byars said after the game.
