Teradja Mitchell is entering the transfer portal with one remaining year of eligibility, though he plans to remain with the Buckeyes for the rest of the season.
While Mitchell is currently using the extra year of eligibility provided to all players by the NCAA in 2020, he has not taken a redshirt year and has only played in four games this season, leaving him eligible to take a redshirt for the 2022 season and play another year of college football in 2023 – though he would no longer be able to redshirt this year if he sees game action in the CFP.
Mitchell entered the 2021 season as a starting linebacker and team captain, but he ended up losing his starting job and playing only sparingly by the end of the season as Ohio State’s defense struggled. He played only one defensive snap this year – in a four-linebacker package against Northwestern when Tommy Eichenberg had to leave the game for one play – while appearing in just three other games on special teams.
He becomes the second Buckeye to enter the transfer portal with the transfer portal window opening Monday, joining
