Police in Xenia, Ohio, say Mary Artis has been indicted on three counts of felony child endangering in connection to the death of her daughter, Aaliyah Artis, in June 2021.
XENIA, Ohio — An Ohio mother is facing three felony charges after her 12-year-old daughter was found dead in her home last year in what authorities called “deplorable” conditions.
Police say there is no evidence the child’s death was intentional and Artis has been cooperating with investigators. “The conditions inside the house were among the worst seen by investigators,” according to a news release from the police department.that coroner’s investigators say the house was infested by insects and Artis had several bites, possibly from bed bugs. There reportedly was partially consumed food in every room.
