U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Black ruled on what jurors can and can't hear during the trial of ex-Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder.
Householder and Borges can't state that federal investigators acted unlawfully or improperly in obtaining evidence for the case."This Court has found no impropriety in the government’s evidence collection," Black wrote.
Householder and Borges can't argue that the alleged bribes are"common practice and should therefore be excused." But testimony on how fundraising works will be permitted. Householder can't question Borges about whether the latter received or rejected a plea offer. Black pointed out that the innocence or guilt of the two men will be determined separately.
