We learned more overnight about the motorcycle crash that left an off-duty Philadelphia police officer dead.
An off-duty police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash along Broad Street in South Philadelphia Tuesday evening.
The 27-year-old officer was riding southbound along the 3300 block of South Broad Street -- that's near the Stadium Complex -- around 6:45 p.m. when he collided with an SUV, police said. Police and medics found the man next to a crashed motorcycle, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The off-duty officer was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said preliminary information was that the SUV driver made a right out of a parking lot to go south on Broad Street they collided with the motorcycle, Small said.
