Jenna Windham was struck in the head with a shopping cart and subsequently died of her injuries.
Scott allegedly punched her so hard he broke his hand and went to see a doctor the same day as the attack. His DNA was later found on a metal shopping cart that was used to attack Windham, police said. Phone records also linked him to the area of the crime.four months later, records show. He gets credit for the time spent in jail while his case was unresolved.
Police said at the time of Windham’s death she’d only been living in Oakland a few months and split her time between a homeless camp located a short distance from where she was found and a nearby shelter.
