The handlers bath, brush, exercise, feed, groom and clean after the dogs “at home on workdays as well as on days off and during vacation periods,” the suit claims. The officers are required to bring the canines to and from work, and are also responsible for giving the furry friends medicine and taking them to the vet and animal hospital when they are sick, according to the suit,NYPD dog handlers are suing the city claiming they are owed overtime pay for the round-the-clock job that requires them to live with the pooches.
