A rideshare driver has been hospitalized after being stabbed by a passenger on the FDR Drive in Manhattan.
An Uber driver was stabbed in attempted robbery on FDR Drive in Manhattan. FOX 5 NY's Arthur Chi'en has the details.Officials told FOX 5 New York that a ride-share driver is in the hospital after being stabbed by a passenger on FDR Drive inThe New York State Federation of taxi drivers identified the victim as Yadav Dhungel, 36. Dhungel is currently in the ICU awaiting surgery for his multiple stab wounds, the federation told FOX 5 NY. Police said at about 3 p.m.
Sources told FOX 5 that the passenger tried to take Dhungel's seat and take over the vehicle. The suspect then jumped off the side of FDR Drive and suffered severe leg injuries. The founder of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers Fernando Matteo is urging drivers not to fight an armed robber.
"Big mistake. We always tell our drivers ‘make sure that if you are being robbed and there’s a weapon involved, you do not resist. You give up whatever you need to give up.’"
