Famed tennis star Novak Djokovic's father stoked outrage after being spotted mingling with demonstrators praising Russian President Vladimir Putin near the Australian Open.
Srdjan Djokovic was caught on video beside protesters, some of whom wielded a Russian flag with Putin's face and shouted pro-Russian chants as the war in Ukraine rages on thousands of miles away. At least four of the demonstrators were booted from Melbourne Park, where the protest took place, according to authorities. Russian and Belarusian flags have been banned from the tournament due to the war.
Phrases such as"long live Russian citizens" were heard during the demonstrations, according to translations.
