A new Android phone has a unique extra feature that works with your AirPods.
, a new operating system update means this Android smartphone now includes, among something called Experimental Features, the capability to display the battery status of Apple AirPods.
Now, Pei didn’t need to build this compatibility into the phone. After all, Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear are the names of two sets of in-ears from the brand itself. But Nothing has said it wants to support its users with third-party products. There’s already Tesla integration so you can connect the phone to Tesla EVs straight from the Notification Shade, without needing to launch a Tesla app.
Nothing has created a version of Android which, with features like Tesla integration, is strikingly different from other phones. So, the arrival of support for AirPods is not a surprise. And it’s certainly handy to be able to see the AirPods battery percentage as easily as this, especially as other Android phones don’t have this feature.
