Here are all the announcements from this morning's Nintendo Direct:
. The gameplay started off with some more specifics on the doglike companion character Oatchi, showing off its ability to lift objects, fight enemies, smash breakable objects, and even act as a floatation device, as well as the ability to upgrade it and teach it new skills. A variety of environments were shown off, from the garden-like locales the series has been known for to underground dungeonesque areas and even what appears to be the inside of a house.
In addition, the trailer showed off multiple playable characters, including the long-awaited playable debut of Princess Daisy, and a new power-up that turns Mario into an elephant. The game launches October 20is getting a full-blown remake. A reveal trailer showed off completely remastered graphics, as well as what appear to be brand-new CG cinematics depicting events in the game’s story. The game releases November 17 this year, with pre-orders available now.
