Roger Goodell is nearing his fourth extension as NFL commissioner.
Goodell and NFL owners were expected to finalize a multi-year contract extension for the commissioner at the owners meetings in Phoenix in March.
Goodell’s extension reportedly has been in the works since last season, when the compensation committee was granted permission by the full membership to get an extension done.was nearly $64 million as recently as the 2020-21 fiscal year. The 64-year-old, Goodell — who took over for Paul Tagliabue on Sept. 1, 2006 — was previously extended in 2009, 2012 and 2017.
