Cleveland Browns Deshaun Watson during day 5 of training camp, August 1, 2022BEREA, Ohio -- Deshaun Watson’s fate for the 2022 season is now in the hands of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or his designee.
“The CBA affords the NFL or NFLPA the right to appeal the discipline imposed by the Disciplinary Officer. Such an appeal must be filed within three days and would be heard by the Commissioner or his designee. The NFL, which fought hard for an indefinite suspension for a minimum of the 2022 season with a chance to apply for reinstatement afterwards, was dismayed by Robinson’s six-game suspension. It announced in a statement.
The Browns, poised to start Jacoby Brissett in Watson’s place, will now have to wait for the appeals and legal processes to play out before they know their quarterback outlook for the season.
