City Council member Omar Narvaez and other local officials attended an unveiling ceremony of new signs that display street names in Korean and English in northwest Dallas.The beat and rhythm of traditional Korean drums and gongs rang throughout the intersection of Royal Lane and Harry Hines Boulevard during a ceremony Friday afternoon unveilingKyong Sun Kim, who led the traditional Korean drum performance by the Arirang Texas Group, said she thinks Friday leaves a mark on the city’s history.
Elected officials who attended the unveiling ceremony, including council member Omar Narvaez, announced additional plans to recognize Koreatown, including a designation from the state Legislature. “I hope that through these efforts, the community in the Dallas area can find more power and continue growing.” Ryou said in Korean.
