The drop falls within the poll’s margin of error, but pollsters noted that it's the first time in a decade support for legalizing marijuana did not increase.

A new Muhlenberg College public health survey asked people whether they support legalizing marijuana, but also asks their opinion on the quality of the state's health care, their concerns about COVID, climate change and other issues. A new public health poll shows that support in Pennsylvania for legalizing recreational marijuana has dropped for the first time in 10 years.

“The small shift in opinion on this matter may simply be the product of sampling error, but for the first time in a decade, support for legalization did not rise in the Commonwealth,” pollsters wrote in a summary. Support for legal marijuana had steadily increased in the Muhlenberg poll since the spring of 2013 when just 33% said they favored it.found that 66% of registered voters in Pennsylvania supported legalizing recreational marijuana. Pennsylvania already has a medical marijuana program.Other findings in the poll included:

79% of GOP voters said they were not too concerned or not all concerned about getting seriously sick from the virus versus 29% of Democrats who said not too concerned and 37% who were not concerned at all.
