It occurred at 2:01 p.m. on Route 46 East near mile 11 in White Township, New Jersey State Police said. A state police Ford Explorer was traveling behind an Oxford Emergency Squad Chevrolet Tahoe to the reported medical emergency with both vehicles’ emergency lights activated, according to police. The Oxford vehicle then stopped in the travel lane and attempted a U-turn, the police said; the state trooper was unable to avoid a collision and struck the rear of the EMS vehicle, then the guardrail.
“As a result of the crash, the driver of the Oxford Chevy sustained minor-non life threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital,” state police Sgt. Philip Curry told NJ Advance Media in an email. “The trooper did not report any injuries.”
